Peter Jackson would not be proud of this one. A great concept is let down by the length of time a feature movie has to run. The first half hour will encourage a few nervous giggles and even the occasional shriek from the audience, but soon the movie descends into an uncomfortable attempt to give the objet de horreur a character and raison d'etre. There is blood and gore aplenty, but the effect of this is instantly negated by the female lead's ridiculous empathetic overtures towards Geoffrey (or whatever his name is). If you are looking for bone shards and brain splatter then resort to 'Brain Dead'.
