For the last 60 years, an unnamed monk (Chow Yun-Fat) has traveled around the world to protect an ancient scroll that holds the key to unlimited power. The monk is now looking to pass on the scroll and the unlikely candidate is a young theif named Kar (Seann William Scott). When the scroll is stolen, the monk and Kar must face and fight the ultimate enemy.
