In this sequel to 1998's "Elizabeth", Cate Blanchett returns as Queen Elizabeth I of England. It's 1585 and Spain's King Philip II (Jordi Molla) has openly challenged her rule, determined to restore England to Catholicism and force the Protestant queen from the throne. As the fight for her crown comes closer, she finds herself falling in love with the adventurer Sir Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen), but an unsuccessful assassination shifts her attention back to the approaching battle.
