The film is based on the popular Playstation 2 game of the same title, where Number 47 (Timothy Olyphant) is an elite assassin for hire who has a barcode tattoo of his number on the back of his head. He is a perfectionist with his work, but after his latest mission, he is being chased by Interpol and the Russian military. Number 47 heads across Eastern Europe trying to find out who set him up and why, as well as dealing with the unfamiliar emotions aroused by a hooker named Nika (Olga Kurylenko).
