Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch) is a 19 year-old Los Angeles drug dealer who comes from a good family, owns his home, and enjoys partying with his friends, which includes Elvis (Shawn Hatosy) and Frankie (Justin Timberlake). But when Jake Marzursky (Ben Foster) cheats him out of a deal and vandalizes his house, Johnny takes revenge by kidnapping his younger brother Zack (Anton Yelchin), but things get worse when they Johnny realizes that he could go to prison for it.
