Australian farmer John (William McInnes), irritable, gruff, and solitary, sees a badly beaten woman collapse in his driveway. He reluctantly cares for Tahmeena (Monic Hendrickx), despite her obvious fear and their language barrier. He does not call the authorities, preferring his own independence from the local population. John and Tahmeena slowly begin to communicate, through pictures, words, gestures. As he pieces together her story, he learns about the dark underbelly of Australian society, a subculture he knew nothing about - and a world where life is expendable, and humans are bought and sold. When the outside world inevitably intrudes, they are both put in jeopardy and forced to trust one another for survival.
