The Dubai International Film Festival [DIFF] is a 7-day annual movie festival organized by the Dubai Media City and features various films, showcasing contemporary and classic global cinema. The first DIFF took place in December 2004 and the annual event's main venue is the Madinat Jumeirah. This year's Dubai Int'l Film Festival will take place from the 11 to 18 of December 2008.

DIFF 2008 Galas Screenings
DIFF 2008 will open with the opening night gala of Oliver Stone's biopic film of the life and presidency of George W. Bush, while the Gala of the World Cinema segment will be Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, which tells the story of a tea boy in a Mumbai call centre who stands to win the Indian version of Who Wants to Win a Million Dollars, and the Cinema of the World section will feature Baz Luhrman's epic picture Australia, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

DIFF 2007 Comes to an End
The curtains have closed for the Dubai International Film Festival 2007, which yesterday saw the screening of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Muhr Documentary finalists as well as the Muhr Awards features Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. It has been announced that DIFF 2008 will include a Asia/Africa Competition in the Muhr Awards for Excellence, as well as awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Script, Best Editor, Best Composer and Best Cinematography.
